  • $5,000 for Lot 10 (parking area between Franklin Mall building & the upper Tommy House building) or
  • $25,000 for the rest of the lots and the Franklin Mall building or
  • $30,000 for all real estate above or
  • And again, no deposit check required if bidding for contents only (must pay in full with cash or check for these items per CIA terms)

Franklin Mall real estate AND unique contents including rare antiques will be auctioned 10 AM Sat., 11/7/09 via Les Crandall of Central Illinois Auctions

Auction will be held here at 304 S Franklin St. All items sold via an "absolute" auction with no minimum bids or "reserve".

The real estate & building shell will be auctioned first so that a buyer* of the building can choose to bid on any and all contents, so that he can keep as much or little as desired. This includes all antiques, kitchen equipment etc. whether attached or not. See CIA's webpage for pictures. Order of the Sale:

  • Real Estate will be sold first at 10 a.m.
  • Following the sale of the real estate: the contents from the building (even some items attached to the building inside & out) will be sold to be removed by purchaser of items.
  • Restaurant equipment will be sold at 12 p.m.

Together, both tracts of real estate have approx. 75 parking spaces. First floor has 8,829 sq. ft. with 2nd floor (5,779 sq. ft.), plus 540 sq. ft. basement for a total of 15,148 square feet (this includes the attached 19x23' building).

Depending how arranged, there are 17 rental spaces ranging from 143-2,175 square feet. These can be recombined by removing bookcases in doorways between most units to make as few as 3 units ranging from 1,795-8,184 square feet.

The remaining tenant Tour Group Pro LLC 422-5002 (owned by a member of the mall's LLC i.e. Bill Owen, his other business) will be available to show the mall by appointment by calling his cell phone 217-454-4525 or e-mail Bill Owen. Bill Owen's Tour Group Pro is an independent contractor with Franklin Travel and they are now located at 220 E Wood. Tour Group Pro will move to another location in late October/early November (mail to TGP can be sent now and later to its permanent PO Box 711, Decatur IL 62525). The other 2 tenants, MCM Designs has moved to 2885 N. Oakland (791-5169 opening there 10/14/09) and Elizabeth Bavor's Beauty & Beast will move by mid-October.

Parking for Bidders To assure space for auction attendees, no other parking will be allowed including those paying to park in our lot, from 5 PM Thursday Nov. 5 through 11:59 PM Saturday Nov. 7. Parking will only be for auction attendees.

For that Saturday, additional parking is available to the auction attendees as agreed to by the Church of God south of the mall. They have 2 lots: one just east of the church and one south of the law office which is south of the church.

Paying parkers will be allowed through November 30 (or ending sooner if closing on the sale is earlier than December 7) unless if extended by the new owner. Parkers prepaid beyond the last date will receive a pro-rata refund. Paid parkers may not park from 5PM Nov. 5 - midnight Nov. 7. Auction attendees only may park from Thursday evening to Saturday midnight.

I 72 E to US 36 E exit (past Holiday Inn) continue to Eldorado St (East still), turn right on N Main St (Soy Capital Bank), turn left on Macon St (Amren/Illinois Power), turn left onto Franklin St and immediately turn right into parking lot of Franklin Mall

From the East, like Indianapolis
(I-74 to I-72 via) Champaign IL
I 72 W to Business Route* 51 S exit (past WalMart), continuing south on N Main St, turn left on Macon St (Amren/Illinois Power), turn left onto Franklin St and immediately right into parking lot of Franklin Mall

From the North, like Chicago
(I-55 to Hwy-51 via) Bloomington IL
US 51 S Business Route* (past WalMart), continuing south on N Main St, turn left on Macon St (Amren/Illinois Power), turn left onto Franklin St and immediately right into parking lot of Franklin Mall

From the South, Pana IL
US 51 N (Business Route*) becomes Franklin St (continuing North), watch for Franklin Mall and turn right into parking lot.

*Avoid taking the Hwy 51 Bypass that continues around the outskirts. Business Route 51 goes through the center of town.
